Gourmet Burger sounds like an oxymoron to me, but my daughter raved about the place so I tagged along to check it out (oh, and to pay of course. Parenthood...) I had a chili based burger, along with a portion of skinny fries. Someone else said in their review that a portion of fries was enough for 2 or 3 people but I suggest that's only true if they are 2 or 3 very skinny people. I'd get a portion each if I were you. The food was good, the fries were very skinny (think McDonalds but with an eating disorder) and tasted great. The burger is cooked to your preference with the standard being pink in the middle and it was tender and juicy. My burger lacked any real chili kick, but I find this is usually the case everywhere I go so maybe it's just me. So far so good right? So why only 3 stars? It's just too expensive for what you get. We had 2 burgers, 2 fries and 2 drinks and it cost £30. I could go to a pub and get 2 steaks with fries (and veg) and 2 drinks for less than that, and you know what they say. Why eat burger when you could have steak? I don't mind paying for a good meal but GBK just seemed like it was a bit of a rip off. Also, having sampled the delights of Dirty Burger I am now enlightened as to how ridiculously good a burger can be, and GBK didn't quite step up to the mark. (No Dirty Burger branch local to here, but worth the trek to London just to try one, or two, or three)
